Here's some fashion intelligence that seems to be coming straight from The Pentagon! The trendier designer/manufacturers are gearing up for total war this Spring...
and they'll be marching--fully flanked-- in force right into Summer, too, with well orchestrated campaigns to cross your shopping bordersarmed with military-inspired fashion sportswear.Designers like Trina Turk, Anna Huling, Poleci, Sanctuary and Lu Lu Lame will be on the front lines with lots of casual camouflaged separates and cool battle-ready jumpsuits. I'd expect the major moderate manufacturers to climb on this conspiratoriously conceived seasonal fad by early Summer with khakieverythings and overstated accessorizing. If it gets too crazy, we might even see some haute gun-toting. But I'll opt for a diplomatic solution.
Don't ask me why, or try to make any sense of it. Just be prepared for a pure flash-in-the-pan rally-round-the-flag... girls.
And the guys too. We're already seeing hot guys (and Pretty Boys) in fatiques on Melrose Avenue... a sort of militant Fascist West Hollywood Attitude that continues to edge a little further out of the closet every year.
Have fun with it while it lasts. Make that preemptive strike before this contrived little border incident spreads into WalMart and Penney's and you'll be ahead of the game and the first on your block.
At Ease...

FrontProbably hatched on the heels of THAT DAMNED DISMAL ELECTION, more casual-yet-edgy looks will be forthcoming from California sportswear makers with the emergence of an "extreme" Americana look. It's another fun-with-fashion trend that hasn't made the rounds in some years... and it'll be very cutely updated.
Who Asked for it?
As silly and fresh from who-knows-where it may seem, both of these trends are going to be BIG. VERY BIG. So, be avant-garde as soon as you can get at the goods-- by Fall the fad will surely fatigue itself into the most banal back reaches of your closet. You'll have but one last fling with this stuff: Halloween... and by Winter we'll be laughing at whatever THAT was.
So, I'm saying go for it, but don't max your cards out on it. There will just be a fast season to play war games... and then the Fashion Fad Factory will be on to something completely different. This merchandise should begin showing up in hipper boutiques in the Spring.
